Infinite Undiscovery
Just bought Square Enix's latest RPG "Infinite Undiscovery" on 360.
After playing through a few hours I have to say I'm really disappointed and unimpressed. I'm kicking myself in the butt for getting hyped up and buying it without reading reviews first.
Don't get me wrong it's not a horrible game, but I was hoping for a much better Japanese RPG experience.
Right off the bat I get hit with insanely horrible voice acting (which only appears in irregular portions of the game), insanely cheesy dialogue, a prison dungeon that feels like I've played 100 times before in other games, a tedious escort mission, a rather underwhelming introduction to the fictional world, and a main character that irks the hell out of me.
I am loving the real-time battle system and I have read in some reviews that the story does get a little more interesting but I don't know if it's going to be enough to keep me playing.
Considering I wasn't too keen on Lost Odyssey it may very seem like Japanese RPGs may not be my type of game however I absolutely LOVED many of the games released by Japanese developers in the 90's. Xenogears, Star Ocean, Dragon Quest series, Wild Arms, and a TON of other RPGs. This generation however has been a letdown for me so far. I've still have hopes resting on Last Remnant, Star Ocean, White Knight Chronicles, and of course FFXIII. I've yet to try Tales of Vesperia.
Anyways like I said the game is not horrible and I'm sure there are plenty of hardcore JRPG fans who will enjoy it. Nonetheless I'm probably just going to play it through the week and trade it in however if anyone is considering purchasing it I would be happy to sell it for less than retail.
